HISTORY OF RAINFIRE TATTOO

Rainfire Tattoo opened at its East Vancouver location in May, 2012.

Katia Somerville, who has been tattooing since 2006, had a vision of a tattoo space with calm and peaceful energy to provide an environment for positive transformation.

In 2006, at the end of a 10 year teaching career, Katia's tattoo apprenticeship began. She fell in love with this art form right away, built a client base, attended conventions, and travelled to work in different countries. Her style evolved during this time to geometry, patterns and blackwork. In 2012, after completing business training courses, she opened Rainfire Tattoo on East Pender Street.

From 2012-2022, Katia had the honour working alongside many amazing artists and clients who have come through the doors of Rainfire Tattoo. She hired staff and mentored other artists.

Katia is currently focusing on a long awaited dream of building a small private studio to create intentional tattoos and working solo again. During this transition, she is taking time off tattooing until the spring/summer of 2022. Please sign up to the newsletter for updates.
